APD Press Releases
On Thursday, Nov. 22 at 6:43 a.m., Arcata Police received a report of a broken window at the Shell Station at the corner of 14th and G streets. Arriving officers discovered that the business had been burglarized and that merchandize was missing from inside.
Officers began checking the area for evidence and located a subject partially concealed in some bushes within a block of the business. The subject was later identified as James Murray, 38, from Georgia. Murray was found to be in possession of property that was stolen from the business and placed under arrest.
Officers were later able to view surveillance footage from the business that showed Murray breaking the window, entering the business and removing the merchandize.
Murray was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, where he was booked and lodged for burglary.
At 8:31 a.m., an Arcata Police officer patrolling the downtown area of Arcata saw a female that he knows from previous police contacts walking at the corner of 10th and G streets. A warrant check on the female showed that she is on probation and has a search clause. The officer contacted the female, identified as Jennifer Kline, 37, of Eureka, and conducted a probation compliance check of her person.
Kline was found to be in possession of stolen credit cards and stolen identification. The stolen items had been reported stolen during a vehicle burglary that occurred in the early morning hours at 2:27 a.m. in the area of the Plaza.
Further investigation revealed that more stolen property was being kept in a local motel room. Officers responded to the motel and contacted an occupant in the identified room. The occupant of the room voluntarily turned over more stolen property and appeared to be uninvolved in the earlier vehicle burglary and unaware that the property was stolen.
Kline was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, where she was booked and lodged for possession of stolen property and probation violation.
