The “Regional Stay Home Order” takes effect for at least three weeks if a region’s cumulative ICU capacity falls below 15%. The order is lifted when ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%, at which time each county is reassigned to a tier based on its local COVID-19 data under the state’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.”
There was discussion about the process of negotiating with the state if a tier change is imminent. The county’s daily case rate per 100,000 residents was 2.8 as of last week and the state’s threshold for a minimal risk ranking in less than one.
I believe a candidate with the leadership skills and expertise needed to continue this work, will step forward to help navigate Humboldt through the next phase of response. The plan is for me to continue to serve Humboldt County in a part-time capacity under the new Health Officer and the Deputy Health Officer, Dr. Ennis, to provide whatever assistance I can for the community going forward. Humboldt is my home.
