New initiatives forwarded by the council and executed with Storey’s “able and stable guidance,” as Chesbro put it, included creation of the Arcata Economic Development Corporation, Aldergrove Industrial Park and the Arcata & Mad River Transit System (A&MRTS).
Arcata is on the cutting edge with its environmental, economic and social strategies and I intend to continue this tradition, with a vision toward sustainability.
Through its dedicated volunteers and with the generous support of the community and City of Arcata, the North Coast Resource Center (NCRC) is providing vital services to the disadvantaged in Arcata. For the sake of those in need, the NCRC should have its lease on the Arcata Service Center extended.
Mendosa has been a City of Arcata employee for the past 30 years. He began his career as a bus driver for the Arcata & Mad River Transit System in 1980. He became a sworn police officer in 1982, and police chief in 2002. He was named acting city manager over a year ago, taking over when Arcata’s then-City Manager Michael Hackett went on medical leave. Mendosa was appointed Interim City Manager in March, 2009.
