Eight puppies were born at the shelter at the time of the interview. Six more puppies were recently dumped at the side of a road in the Carlotta area. Earlier in November, 13 puppies were found in a cardboard box next to a school bus stop in the Dyerville area.

On Saturday Nov. 19, 2011 at approximately 1 p.m., a teal honda CRV sped down Buttermilk Lane toward Samoa Boulevard. Red pandas are found in the mountain forests of Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, and Myanmar (Burma) in Western Asia and are an endangered species. Sadly, they are nearly extinct in the western part of their range because their forest home is being sacrificed to development. Their beautiful red fur is also coveted for clothing decoration in some cultures. Today, there are thought to be fewer than 2,500 Red pandas remaining in the wild.
