ARCATA – The City Council this week introduced ordinances laying the groundwork for a new Medical Marijuana Innovation Zone on West End Road. The ordinances are set for adoption March 2, but not before the City Council and staff take still more public comment.
A Monday evening meeting will be held at City Hall (see below). Suggestions proffered at the meeting could be incorporated into the final version of the ordinances on their adoption:

Weigh In on Arcata Commercial Cannabis Permit Regs on Monday, February 22
The City of Arcata hosts a community meeting to discuss the proposed regulations and licensing for commercial cannabis activity permits on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Arcata City Council Chamber, 736 F Street, in Arcata.
Anyone interested in commercial cannabis, residents and neighbors of the Arcata Medical Marijuana Innovation Zone, and anyone interested in commercial cannabis manufacturing is encouraged to attend this public meeting.
This is an opportunity to learn and give feedback about the proposed application and operation requirements, inventory tracking, sustainability practices, permits and fees. City Manager Karen Diemer, Community Development Department Director Larry Oetker and City Attorney Nancy Diamond will be at the meeting and will be available to answer questions and gather suggestions and concerns.
The Arcata City Council will take up the City’s proposed medical marijuana regulatory program again at its Wednesday, March 2, 6 p.m. meeting. Information gathered at Monday’s community meeting will inform the Council’s discussion and decision making at the March meeting.
