McK School District seeks new superintendent

Superintendent Michael Davies-Hughes announced on Feb. 6 that he would be resigning from his position effective June 30 to take a job as assistant superintendent of educational services at Eureka City Schools.

During Thursday’s meeting, the board will consult with Debra Kingshill from the County Office of Education regarding the process for searching for a new superintendent for the 2015-2016 school year.

After the discussion the board will convene in closed session to discuss labor negotiations with the McKinleyville Teachers Association and the Classified School Employees Association. The trustees will also discuss early retirement applicants.

The board’s next regular meeting is Wednesday, March 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Azalea Conference Center.

The MUSD oversees Dow’s Prairie and Morris elementary schools and McKinleyville Middle School.
