INDIANOLA – A man is in custody following a reported shot fired by a rifle in an apartment behind Cash & Carry at the Indianola Cutoff.
According to Eureka Police Chief Andy Mills, two males fled the apartment, with a male and female left behind inside along with the shooter. "We thought he might be barricaded," Mills said.
The rifle man was reported "in an elevated position," Mills said. "That created some difficulties."
Multiple police agencies, including EPD, Arcata Police, HCSO and the CHP responded to the scene, blocking Indianola Road and cordoning off the surrounding area for a time.
The male and female eventually left the apartment unharmed and a suspect was taken into custody on as-yet unspecified charges.
