Dear Tom -- Thank you and the KHSU Community Advisory Board for all of your good work on behalf of KHSU and Humboldt State University. A healthy and creative environment requires diverse ideas on how to fulfill our shared mission and best serve the public, and accomplishing this depends on having an array of perspectives. I appreciate the time and energy you and your colleagues have invested in receiving and considering the input of those who have expressed themselves to the CAB. I have heard from many of these supporters directly, as well.
"...we must ensure that all personnel matters, including those affecting both staff and leadership, are handled with respect and confidentiality."
Humboldt State remains committed to KHSU and its mission to educate, enrich, enlighten, and entertain, and I deeply value KHSU as a diverse and vital service for the region. As you and I have discussed, the dual roles of KHSU as both a public radio service and community radio contribute to its unique function in this region. KHSU is a complex partnership among the community of listeners and supporters, Humboldt State University, and the KHSU volunteers, and it thrives as a unique hybrid of public radio and community radio, providing the best in both local and national programming to our listeners.
I know that some in the community, including many who have spoken with CAB members, continue to wonder about the details of recent personnel changes at KHSU. While I greatly appreciate this commitment and passion for the station, we must ensure that all personnel matters, including those affecting both staff and leadership, are handled with respect and confidentiality. Thank you for your on-going support of Humboldt State University and for sharing the feedback that the Community Advisory Board has received regarding KHSU.
With very best wishes,
Lisa A. Rossbacher, Ph.D.
President Humboldt State University
