HUMBOLDT – Sometime around 11 a.m. today, or more likely noonish, there will be heavy rain which will continue through the day.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a quarter to a half an inch of rain today for Arcata. There will be a south southwest wind of 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Hold on to your witch’s hat.

For Tuesday, there is a slight chance of showers before 11 a.m., but then it will be dry and partly sunny.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 64, although there is a slight chance of rain Wednesday night.

Daylight Saving Time ends this coming Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 a.m.  You’ll need to wake up five minutes earlier, at 1:55 a.m., so you can set all your clocks back one hour and test your smoke alarms, then you can go back to sleep.

By the way, the end of Daylight Saving Time is when you get an extra hour of sleep in the morning. So you should be nice and chipper for Election Day, which is next week. Let's get this thing over with, then we can ignore Nate Silver for another 3 1/2 years.
