Dreaming Kurosawa at the Sanctuary Saturday, Oct. 20

ARCATA – Akira Kurosawa conceived his film Dreams (1990) in eight segments.

That's perfect because, for the eighth year, eight bands will play live music for each of the eight segments of the film, performing behind the large screen. It all happens at the Sanctuary on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Sanctuary, 1301 J St. in  Arcata,

Yes, 7 p.m., not 8 p.m. That would be carrying the eight thing too far. Besides, setting up eight bands takes a bit of time, even though Arcata native Oryan Peterson-Jones has had lots of experience with his brainchild.

The eight bands include locals and visitors from Portland and Napa Valley. They are Crowey, WodnWind, Die Geister Beschworen, Mister Moonbeam, La Mancha, Medicine Baul, The Tweeners and SamVega.

Tickets are $10 advance, $12 at the door. The Sanctuary is located at 1301 J St. in Arcata.
