Democracy in Action: Lots of meetings

ARCATA COUNCIL The Arcata City Council will consider an annexation of the Boyd Road area and increasing councilmember salaries when it meets today, Feb. 4 at 5:45 p.m. in the Council democracyinactionChamber at 736 F St. in Arcata. The meeting begins with a closed session to discuss a personnel issue with the city manager. The open session begins at 6 p.m.

McKINLEYVILLE CSD The McKinleyville Community Services District Board of Directors will discuss its draft Integrated Pest Management Plan at its meeting today, Feb. 4 starting at 7 p.m. at Azalea Hall, 1620 Pickett Rd. in McKinleyville. The board will also discuss its Strategic Plan and the proposed sewer system upgrades.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The Arcata Economic Development Committee will discuss the potential for clusters of marijuana-related businesses when it meets Thursday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 736 F St., Arcata. It will also discuss permit fees and the streamlining of the permitting process.

GENERAL PLAN UPDATE The Board of Supervisors will review the Conservation and Open Space element of the General Plan Update at its meeting on Monday, Feb. 9 starting at 1:30 p.m. Supervisors Chambers, 829 Fourth St. in Eureka.

BUDGET TASK FORCE The 2014/2015 Arcata General Fund Budget Task Force meets on Monday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 736 F St., Arcata. The task force will hear presentations from Public Works and Environmental Services. It will also discuss interfund revenues and employee benefits.

OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE The Arcata Open Space & Agricultural Committee will discuss greenbelts and sea level rise adaptation at a special meeting Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 736 F St., Arcata.
