On the other hand, when a band of arrogant and self-serving lawyers comes to the village and essentially threatens our volunteers that they will sue us if we attempt to protect ourselves by weed whacking the tall grass and non native invasive species growing between the tracks in the middle of our village – this is where a thinking man in the hills of California is challenged to action.

EPIC should be careful of what it has stepped into. EPIC cannot deny that its over-the-top vehemence toward our self-generated and honestly executed clean-up plan is nothing more than a bully tactic to stop any activity on the railroad, except what they command their local political minions to carry out.
If you believe as I do, that we actually create our own future, then the most important issue in any election is really the character of the candidates as leaders. In most parts of the world where I have worked, this might be known as “protection money” and usually stays out of the courts. Now, all this has been allegedly accomplished within the Superior Court system, so it is NOT illegal. Therefore, to an environmentalist, it might not seem so heinous, except that it appears that not a single penny of the huge sums EPIC has beaten out of this county and its inhabitants (however checkered their history), has been reinvested into the environment to repair the actual damage.
