The program served 60 to 65 children between two classrooms in a typical year. When Bloomfield Elementary closed in 2006, it took a toll on the program.
Humboldt Mediatrion Services has released its compilation of ideas aired at last week’s Plaza scoping session on how to abate excessive behavior on Halloween and New Year’s Eve. These include initial thoughts of attendees – responses to “What would you like to see accomplished by this meeting?”, reports from the five subcommittees and a synopsis of ideas expressed at the Jan. 24 meeting.
The North Coast Resource Center is approaching its first month of being closed. We remain hopeful that the closure is temporary and will attempt to keep you informed of our progress. We are eager to see the following services return to and for Arcata.
“We’ve offered a lot of advice,” McCall says. “Now, hopefully, we can walk the walk and show the way.”

A rewarding way to help your historical society is to simply volunteer. We are all in this community together, but many of us do not know how we even got here, or why we gathered in the first place.
Most citizens skirted the square entirely, evidently assuming by the massive police presence that it was on “lockdown,” as one passerby was heard to mention.
That leaves just two parcels to be acquired until the 4.3 mile Ridge Trail is fully owned by the citizens of Arcata.
