MCKINLEYVILLE – A McKinleyville man received major injuries when his Toyota 4Runner hit a wooden sign post and a large pine tree, then rolled over in downtown McKinleyville Sunday afternoon, Aug. 7. The California Highway Patrol suspects that the driver may have been under the influence or drugs or alcohol.

At about 2:13 p.m., Brandon Phillip Spalino, 19, of McKinleyville, was traveling northbound on Central Avenue just south of Pickett Road when he failed to stop at a red light. Spalino’s vehicle then veered off the roadway, hit the post and the tree, then rolled over on its side.
Spalino suffered major injuries and was transported to Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata.

Actually, the guy crashed because the county failed to “paint the street line markings” after slurry sealing the road.

A driver will crash when the roads lack white lines and other drivers are in your lane, forcing evasive and dangerous actions.

    A lawsuit coming?
