The kids who do this kinda stupid thing deserve to pay the price for the crime. It shouldn’t always fall on the parents. I know some parents can be negligent and not pay attention, or even care what their kids do all day. But a lot also do try. With all the outrageous laws about “Child Abuse” that exist now, it’s a wonder there’s any kids at all with manners. So yeah, a parent can try. And try hard. But if hitting your kids on the ass with a belt is a crime, how the hell are they gonna learn? “I’m disappointed in you” Means nothing.

Many parents would not make the kids pay. The law needs to step in and make them pay, if not with money, community service, picking up trash on highways, painting over graffiti, anything that takes some labor that will make them sweat. Maybe a few weeks of that would make them learn, crime doesn’t pay.

Hopefully one way or another it would be the kids that need to pay 100% of the damage costs – I suppose if the parents needed to pay it up front then hopefully they in turn would make these kids honestly work off the expense. They ought to have to pay the law enforcement and school expenses related to investigating and resolving the damage as well. Kids can do some dumb and senseless things sometimes and some good hard labor to work it off and hopefully learn and mature from the experience is in order.

No lightweight punishment. Make these kids suffer greatly. Force parents to pay for 100% damage costs. Sentence kids to five years community service on top of other punishment deserved.
