ARCATA – Halloween 2015 was two occasions in Arcata – the before-sunset Trick Or Treating on the Plaza event sponsored by Arcata Main Street, then the usual raucous celebration along Ninth Street's Tavern Row, up H Street and surrounding blocks.

The first part went well, with hundreds of gleeful children and parents collecting candy from downtown businesses. As the night progressed, the kids disappeared and the partners came out to play

As usual, Arcata Police had the Plaza's center cordoned off, and set up its mobile command post at Eighth and G streets to monitor conditions and process arrestees.

Asked for a recap, APD's Lt. Ryan Peterson stated, "Once again Halloween brought out a large crowd which resulted in 30 arrests in the downtown area. The majority of the arrests were for public intoxication. There were also arrests for parole violation, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, minor in possession of alcohol as well as assault and battery. All of the arrests were alcohol related. There were no reports of vandalism in the downtown area. The Arcata Police Department was assisted by The Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office, The Humboldt County Probation Department, Fortuna Police Department, Agents with Alcohol Beverage Control and Humboldt State University Police Department."

More photos and information appear in this Wednesday's print edition.
