EUREKA – The public is invited to attend Eureka's 50th annual Rhododendron festival. The parade is on Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. The theme this year is Bright Futures & Big Tomorrows, and the grand marshal is the Boys and Girls Club.
The Rhododendron festival started in 1965. The rhododendron flower is a beautiful accent across Humboldts' redwood forests, homes, parks, valleys and hills. This signature Humboldt flower comes in many different colors, mostly reds, pinks and purples.
Several events encompass the Rhododendron Festival, including the Rhody Roundup BBQ & Dance Saturday, April 18, benefitting the Food For People Back Pack Program. Steam Donkeys and Locomotives at Fort Humboldt, Flower Shows, and much more. Details at the Chamber office.
The community is celebrating this local flower and also celebrating living in the great county of Humboldt. Bring your family and friends to watch this home town show of floats, bands, hot rods and horses. It begins on 7th and E streets moving up 7th Street to H street. Then up H Street to Henderson and ends at the Eureka mall.
