Union Staff Report
HUMBOLDT – After a few light sprinkles this morning, Humboldt County will be mostly dry with mild weather continuing until Thursday, when a weak storm may hit the area.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a smattering of sprinkles this morning, mostly before 10 a.m., with the clouds lifting and the sun gradually making an appearance as the day goes on. The high temperature in Arcata will be about 58 with a gentle breeze. Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 61 and 62.
On Thursday and Friday the clouds roll in and there’s a chance of rain, although the odds are slim and, as of this morning, the storm looked pretty weak and flimsy.
The real rain – the significant precipitation – is expected Saturday and Sunday.
So far this weather season, which started July 1, the NWS has measured 21.51 inches of rain at Woodley Island in Eureka. Last year at the same time the NWS measured 5.85 inches. Normal is 19.53.
