Mad River Union delivery debacle

Mad River Union

HUMBOLDT – The Mad River Union is receiving calls from subscribers reporting that this week's newspaper did not arrive in Trinidad and Blue Lake. It's likely that the delivery failure is also affecting subscribers in Eureka, Orick and other communities in the mixed "Eureka 955" bag delivered weekly to the United States Post Office in Arcata.

The Union has contacted the postal managers and is trying determine what happened to the newspapers. One possibility is that the newspapers were mistakenly shipped to Oakland, or perhaps far-off exotic locales such as Zanzibar or Marrakech.

"Wherever those newspapers were shipped, we're hoping they find their way back to the seaside village and sunny Blue Lake," said Union Editor Jack Durham. "We apologize for the delay."

If you didn't receive a newspaper, please call (707) 826-7000. The Union will mail you a new one, or we can activate your online subscription and you can read this week's edition on the website.
